Liposuction, also called lipoplasty or lipo, is a type of cosmetic surgery that remove and “sucks” fat from the body. this procedure is used on the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, neck, chin, upper and backs of the arms, calves, and back.
The fat is removed through a hollow instrument, known as a cannula. This is inserted under the skin through the incision into the fat. A high-pressure vacuum is applied to the cannula through the long flexible plastic tube and remove or suck the fat. The operation is normally carried out under general anesthesia or local anesthesia. Liposuction is not a weight-loss tool but a cosmetic procedure with some side effects. Risks include infection and scarring. Liposuction can be used to treat some medical conditions. Liposuction is the most common cosmetic operation in the United States and in Europe.
